The most interesting piece of information is that conductive objects (metal, etc) will have a tinted specular highlight similar to the diffuse of the object. Dielectric objects (that do not conduct electricity) will have a more neutral/white specular highlight. While the article states that this is not a definitive rule, it’s a good starting place to create a spec map.
I’m going to call this finished and begin work on a modular environment piece that I’ve been wanting to make…. or start concepting ideas for the Showdown competition that www.artbypapercut.com is hosting. Either way, looking forward to work on another environment soon :D
